Coimbatore: Wild elephants damaged a house in Valparai and the residents, a field officer and his family, narrowly escaped from being trampled.
Coimbatore: Wild elephants damaged a house in Valparai and the residents, a field officer and his family, narrowly escaped from being trampled.
Gunasekaran, works as a field office at Nadumalai Estate near Valparai in Coimbatore district. He lives with his family at his house in the tea estate. At around 1.30am, 15 wild elephants surrounded his house. He immediately informed the guards in the estate.

Wild elephants broke and damaged the windows at the back and front of his house.

The jumbos then wreaked havoc on the mixer grinder, washing machine, gas stove and other things in the house. Meanwhile, the tea estate guards rushed to the spot and chased away the wild elephants with the help of the tea plantation workers. Later, the officer and his family were rescued safely.
As the elephant herd has camped in the region, the tea estate guards and forest department officers are patrolling the area to check the movement of the animals.
