Gang of robbers allegedly led by a pro-Hindu outfit executive involved in various crimes around Mettupalayam nabbed

Seven men involved in criminal activities in the Karamadai and Sirumugai areas have been arrested. The police have arrested and are on the lookout for another member of the gang. The gang leader is allegedly an executive of a Hindu outfit.

Based on classified information that a black two wheeler being used by Arumugam, S/o Venkatachalam from Kamarajar Nagar, Karamadaiwas a stolen one, the Periyanaickenpalayam DSP Krishnamoorthy ordered for an investigation. Under the orders of the DSP a team led by the Karamadai Police Inspector Balasundaram arrested Arumugam and Sarvanan (aka) Saravanakumar, S/o Shankar of Mettupalayam who rode on the same bike, on Kendaiyoor road, from Kurunthamalai to Mangalakkarai, near Karamadai.

Further investigations revealed that they had broken into the house of Chandrasekaran at Kombanur within the Marudur Panchayat in the Karamadai police jurisdiction on June 25 at 8.15 PM. They confessed that they had carried sickles and iron rods with them and had attacked Anitha, wife of Chandrasekaran, with an iron rod and had stolen 9.75 sovereigns of gold jewellery from her under knife point. They said that they sold those stolen goods in Coimbatore.

In association with this case, Saravanan (aka) Saravana Kumar (40) , S/o Manoharan, Venkatachalam Arumugam (54) from Karamadai, Ravi (aka) Ravindran, S/o Karuppusamy from Vadanmangalakarai in Karamadai, Anandaraj from Kulathupalayam, Karamadai, Prem (aka) Premkumar from Gandhi Nagar, Mettupalayam, Moorthy from Mettupalayam and Chinna Saravanan from Mettupalayam have been arrested and 9.75 sovereigns of gold block, the two wheeler and iron rod and sickles used for the theft have been confiscated.

Similarly, on February 27, a furniture shop belonging to Mustafa on Chittepalayam within the Sirumugai Police jurisdiction was broken into and furniture worth Rs.1.25 lakhs were stolen from the shop. The stolen furniture was also hidden at the farm of a person known to Saravanakumar. Along with Nagaraj, Kulathupalayam Anandaraj, Mettupalayam Chinna Saravanan, Premkumar and Tank Medu Moorthy who were involved in this theft were arrested by the Sirumugai police.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Saravana Kumar from Mettupalayam is the brain behind both the cases and that he is an executive of a Hindu outfit. Further, his accomplices were also found to have been invovled in murders in Karamadai and Sirumugai areas. Following this, a total of seven people have been arrested - three in Karamadai and four in Sirumugai.

The police are also on the lookout for Nagaraj who is notably a drinking water supply worker at the TWAD board pumping station in Thondamuthur.
