Since the last full day Sunday lockdown in August is being observed today all over TN, only medical shops are permitted to remain open. All other grocery stores and businesses have been locked down.
The police received information that illegal sale of liquor was taking place at Vettupattankuttai TASMAC shop number 2264 near Palladam in Tirupur District. Liquor addicts were seen to be buying liquor bottles at the back entrance and near the shop.
The public informed the Palladam police regarding this. Following this, police arrived at the spot and seized more than hundreds of bottles of liquor. Further, they also confiscated Rs.6,500 cash that had been received from the sale of alcohol. They have registered a complaint regarding the sale of illegal liquor and are investigating.
