AIADMK government has failed to protect the people from corona and is covering up facts about the number of infections and casualties - Singanallur MLA Na. Karthik

Coimbatore:

Singanallur MLA Na. Karthik met with the members of the press at the DMK office in North Coimbatore, Coimbatore.

He said the COVID-19 epidemic is spreading rapidly in Coimbatore district and more than 13,000 people have been affected so far. He added that 10 to 12 people die every day in Coimbatore and accused that the negligence of the Coimbatore district administration is the main reason for the increase in infections. He accused that the AIADMK government has failed to protect the people from corona and it is covering up facts about the number of infections and casualties.

He added that real information on corona infections and casualties should be made public and testing centers should be increased. He alleged that the hospitals in Coimbatore did not have bed facilities and the ESI hospital did not have adequate medical equipment. He added that patients are not given timely food and medicine and that the district administration had not made arrangements to prevent the spread of corona.

He said that the Minister of Municipal administration had directed the companies and businesses in Coimbatore to conduct corona inspections once in 15 days. He questioned how the companies could do it with the economic impact that COVID has had on them.

He lambasted that the curfew was not properly planned and implemented. He complained that the results of the corona test were issued late. He said there are irregularities in the purchase of bleaching powder and medical equipment. He opined that the government should take steps to protect the people. He criticised that Minister Velumani who printed posters congratulating himself as "The warrior who overcame Corona" has in fact failed to eradicate it.
