Ganapathy-Avarampalayam flyover at the railway crossing is 99 percent complete, but the construction has come to a halt access roads as the power lines under the flyover are yet to be removed in order to construct access roads.
More than 40 trains pass the railway tracks on the road from Ganapathy to Avarampalayam in Coimbatore daily. It was decided to construct a flyover to ease traffic thats get stuck in the railway gate in the area. Bhoomi Puja for the flyover was held 2 years ago and the work was started. The flyover is 550 meters long and 12 m wide and is constructed at a cost of about Rs 20 crore.

Currently 99 percent of the work has been completed with only an access road remaining to be completed.
The flyover will ease traffic from Saravanampatti to Avinashi Road and Gandhipuram to Ganapathy. This will reduce traffic congestion on Sathyamangalam Road.

A Highways Department official said, "Since the power lines have not been removed and the sewers under the flyover have not been renovated, there is a problem in setting up the access road”.
