With Covid-19 cases increasing everyday in Coimbatore district, beds for accommodating patients has become the need of the hour. With symptomatic patients being treated at Government medical College hospital, ESI hospital and other designated private hospitals, asymptomatic patients are admitted at CODISSIA and other Covid Care Centres.
450 beds in Bharathiar University's sports complex and 200 beds at Anna University's Student Hostel has been ear-marked as Covid Care Centres, the Minister told.
To identify infected patients and annihilate cluster formation, special fever/medical camps are regularly held at all the five zones of the Coimbatore Corporation, he added.
Recently, everyday over 400 patients are tested positive for the novel Coronavirus which has claimed close to 274 people in Coimbatore district as of August 27.
