Coimbatore: Work for elevated highway work from Goldwins to Upplipalayam is all set to commence soon. KNR construction limited seals the tender for the construction worth Rs 1157.42 crores.
The much awaited elevated highway construction work on Avinashi Road will soon commence as a private company has bagged the order. Considering the increasing traffic, various infrastructure projects have been carried out across the district.
Avinashi road is considered as one of the important roads and despite widening the road, traffic congestion is still an issue. Especially, those who want to travel to the Coimbatore airport both from the city and from various other places find it much difficult to reach there on time.
Considering this issue, the government announced an elevated highway project on Avinashi road from Upplipalayam to Goldwins. This road will not only help the people who go to the airport but also to all those vehicles which are heading towards outside the city on both sides.
As the public were eagerly awaiting this project, the KNR construction private limited has got the project order from the state highways department. The project is worth Rs 1157,41,91,862 including GST towards construction of elevated highway along Avinashi road from Goldwins to Upplipalayam. This project will be completed within 48 months from the appointed date.

The project allotment has been welcomed by all industry associations. Industrialists have conveyed their happiness and have stressed that this project is need of the hour. They have also requested the government to ensure that the project completes on time as the public and motorists will be inconvenienced for 48 months since the road already has huge traffic congestion problems.
