Coimbatore Journalists pay tribute to colleagues who succumbed to COVID

Coimbatore:Coimbatore journalists paid tribute to their colleagues who succumbed to COVID.

With the onset of the pandemic, the nation wide lockdown came into place from March. Due to this, many government offices, private organisations, factories and public transport were closed down. For the past two months, some relaxations have been announced in the lockdown norms.

Even amid the fear of the pandemic and lockdown, the police department, doctors, sanitation workers and journalists continue to function and provide their needed service.

Staying in the forefront and providing news to the public, many journalists were also affected by COVID-19. Some of them have even lost their lives due to the disease. Families of such journalists have been deeply saddened by their loss.

To pay tribute to the journalists who braved the pandemic to provide news to the public and lost their lives in the journey, the Coimbatore District Journalists gathered in front of the Coimbatore District Collectorate.

More than 50 journalists took part in this while maintaining social distancing. They also paid silent tribute to the deceased journalists.

The journalists who took part in the event requested their fellow journalists to wear face masks and use hand sanitizers to remain safe.
