Coimbatore: Review meeting on COVID-19 prevention measures was held by Corporation Commissioner and Special officer J. Shravan Kumar at the Coimabtore Main Corporation office.

He discussed the special medical camps held in all the zones of the Corporation of Coimbatore in order to diagnose coronavirus infection, people with cold, flu, and cough/ Coronavirus infection can be detected by only by increasing the number of tests. Coporation Commissioner said, people over the age of 50 should have their sugar and blood pressure tested and disease prevention activities in isolated areas should be intensified.
He urged that the concerned authorities should take action to ensure that the disinfectant spraying activities in these areas are carried out twice a day by the sanitary workers. He said all necessary steps should be taken to diagnose the victims of coronavirus infection by conducting medical examination and the infected should be taken to ESI and Government Hospital for treatment.
He also urged to collect data on individuals who do not isolate themselves and information about elderly, heart patients, people with kidney disease, diabetics, etc. in each area. He instructed that the corporation employees should wear gloves, mask and maintain adequate social distancing during field work. The Corporation Commissioner said that people with symptoms like fever, cold and cough in the respective areas should be tested with pulse oximeters and thermal scans.
He also stressed to follow the guidelines issued by the police asking public to compulsorily wear face masks in crowded places and the need for social distancing must be reiterated through loudspeakers to the public. He instructed the flying squad officials to monitor shops not following social distancing and take appropriate action against them. He also said public who come out without face masks will be fined and asked the flying squad officers to continue monitoring if all the guidelines are being followed by the public.

Deputy Commissioner of the Corporation, S. Maduranthagi, Municipal Health Officer, S. Raja, Zonal Assistant Commissioners and Zonal Health Officers and all departmental officials attended the meeting.
