Coimbatore: Moaist Veeramani imprisoned in Coimbatore Central Jail was released on bail yesterday evening.
Maoists Rupesh, Saina, Anoop, Kannan and Veeramani, were arrested in May 2015 in Karumathampatti, Coimbatore district. Saina was out on bail while all others were jailed. Now Veeramani, 72, has been granted bail in all the seven cases filed against him in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He was released from the Coimbatore Central Jail last evening. The Chennai High Court had granted him bail on the condition that he must stay in Erode and sign daily.
Upon release he said, "Maoism is my ideology. No one can suppress it. The government is not doing enough to restrict the spread of COVID-19 to cater to the corporates." He also added that truth cannot be put behind bars. The cops hired an auto and sent him away.
