Coimbatore: A Tamil teacher who enrolled her son at a government school said she was proud that the standard at government schools are at par with the education provided in matriculation schools.
Coimbatore: A Tamil teacher who enrolled her son at a government school said she was proud that the standard at government schools are at par with the education provided in matriculation schools. Jasmine Victoria is a Tamil teacher at Semmandampalayam Government High School in Coimbatore. Her husband Balamurugan works as a supervisor in a private company. The couple have two children, Jeric Samuel and Angelina.
Jeric Samuel completed his 5th grade at a private school and this year has been enrolled for sixth grade at the Panchayat Union Middle School in the Aathupalayam area. Teacher Jasmine has enrolled her son who studied in the English-medium to a government school now. In the current scenario where parents are keen on enrolling their children at private schools, Jasmine has chosen to do the opposite.
When asked about this, she said that she had always wanted to enroll her children at government schools but did not do so since her family objected. Now she said she had enrolled her son, who studied up to 5th grade at an english medium school, at a government school after the approval of her husband. She added that her son also liked the environment and said that the standard at government schools is now at par with English medium schools.
She encouraged parents who are suffering due to COVID-19 situation to come forward and enroll their children at government schools which are also offering quality education to students.
