Three people including an employee of Hotel Annapoorna in Lakshmi Complex test positive for COVID-19; complex sealed

Coimbatore: Three people in Lakshmi Complex, the popular shopping complex on Cross Cut road have been tested positive for COVID-19. One of them is an employee of Hotel Annapoorna branch functioning at the ground floor of the complex.

Corporation Central Zone Assistant Commissioner, Kangaraj said, "An employee of Hotel Annapoorna in Lakshmi Complex, a sanitation worker and an employee of the complex have been tested positive for COVID-19."



As the complex has several shops, fearing infection spread, the complex has been closed for disinfection. Barricades have been placed at the entrance and a placard cautioning the public has been placed.

Following this, 45 employees of Hotel Annapoorna of Lakshmi Complex branch have been subjected to PCR COVID-19 testing.

Commenting on the issue, Jagan Damodarasamy, Executive Director of Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar Hotels Private Limited confirmed that one of their captain/waiter from Ganapathi Maa Nagar working at Annapoorna's Lakshmi Complex branch has been tested positive for Covid-19. 

Rubbishing rumours that Annapoorna's Vadakovai branch which is the central kitchen has also been closed after few employees were tested positive, Mr.Jagan said that the branch at Vadakovai is very much open for dining and takeaways. And, none have been tested positive. 

"All Covid-19 precautions are meticulously followed at all our branches. And, we will continue to serve our customers at highest safety standards, possible", he said.



Earlier, 15 employees of Selvasingh Departmental store on Cross cut road were also tested positive for COVID-19. Following surge of cases, the Coimbatore Corporation has advised the shops to pull down their shutters and are carrying out fumigation works.

Majority of the shops in the area have been closed down and barricades have been placed. Fumigation works on warfooting are being undertaken in the area on behalf of the Health and Corporation Department.
