Coimbatore: Petition to resolve online registration issues for unorganized labour welfare associations was submitted to the District Collector in coimbatore.

Government has announced various financial assistance and welfare assistance to unorganized labor welfare boards, including construction workers. But previously the workers have to go directly to the welfare board office located in their district register themselves. To simplify the process, the Chennai High Court in 2013 announced that workers can register with the boards online. The website and online registration came into effect from June.

It has been 60 days since the online registration system came into effect but the rules and procedures for the online registration is constantly changing and new forms are being uploaded every other week. Hence the Construction and Unorganized Labour association filed a petition that this is causing confusion amongst the applicants and requested to streamline the online registration process to make it simplified and easily accessible.
