Krishnapuram panchayat in Sultanpet, Coimbatore district. they had asked her not to sit in the seat of the President and have forbidden her to have a name plate as she belonged to a lower caste. Political parties and social media outlets have strongly condemned this and have demanded action on those involved in such acts.

The Samooga Neethi katchi today filed a petition at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office. They mentioned in the petition that several elected panchayat leaders in Coimbatore district have been subjected to such untouchability practices. They accused that the dominant caste fanatics have threatened more than 13 people and subjected them to untouchability practices and asked them to stay away from doing their duty during the COVID-19 period. Sarita was stopped from doing her duty even if she had won the election fair and square. The complaints by the victims did not go further than a FIIR and no arrests have been made yet.

They mentioned that such acts have led to further threatening and intimidation of the victims. hence the Samooga Neethi Katchi demanded that District Collector should intervene and secure their working environment.
