A 13-year-old boy in Coimbatore allegedly assaulted by a policeman for defying Sunday lockdown norms

Coimbatore: A 13-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by a policeman on patrol in Coimbatore in violation of curfew as per the parents.



Coimbatore: Citing lockdown violation, a policeman who was on patrol in Coimbatore on Sunday, has allegedly beaten a 13-year-old boy, according to the parents.

Manikandan and Pratiksha, a couple reside at Surya Nagar, Ondipudur, Coimbatore. Their 13-year-old son is a ninth grade student.

It is reported that this morning, the boy was returning back home after visiting his friend. He was allegedly stopped by a policeman who was on patrol at Jayendra Saraswathi Road in Ondiputhur area. 

After knowing that the boy had been roaming around during a full lockdown, the policeman for no obvious reasons, the policeman had allegedly beaten the boy with his lathi, leaving him sustain injuries to his leg. 

Shocked by the incident, the parents who demand action are clueless on the whereabouts of the policeman who assaulted their boy, who is a minor. 

However, as of evening, the parents had  not filed any formal complaint, regarding the incident.
