Due to COVID-19, this year the government banned placing idols in public places and the visarjan process.

Thus Hindus living in Gagan colony in New Market area in Valparai headed out together to perform visarjan of the idols placed in their homes. But police officers led by Valparai DSP Vivekanandan stopped them and instructed them to go individually to perform visarjan in the river.
