A consultative meeting of the polling agents of the 120 polling booths of the Coimbatore South Constituency was held today. Tamil Nadu Congress Chief KS Alagiri was honoured with 'Poorna Kumbha honorary' and was followed by the flag hoisting to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth year.
In the press meet held later KS Alagiri said that the Tamil nadu economy is the worst hit like the Indian economy on the whole. He stressed that the small and micro industries have suffered the worst with relief aid by the government during the COVID-19.
He urged that the central government should provide relief by waiving 6 months of interest on loans purchased from banks. He said that the state government should discuss prospective outcomes of relief activities with the Prime Minister. He said inspections are being carried out in every district the number of capitals in Tamil Nadu does not matter.
He said as there is enough time left, the coalition terms will be revealed after discussion with the respective parties. He also accused the state and the central government of failing to curb the spread of COVID-19. He questioned denying permission to the Dharmapuri MP to attend a government function and further added it was an eyewash to test the CM before attending state functions.
He also condemned the actions of the AYUSH official in the ministry meeting and demanded action against him. He also urged taht no student should choose the wrong path to commit suicide due to NEET exams pointing out teh death of Subashree, a student in Coimbatore who committed suicide out of fear of NEET exams. He pointed out that Rahul Gandhi had already given a statement saying NEET was not a necessity and if the state government wishes it can withhold the examinations.
He said it was the duty of the government to take it up to the centre and assured that ADMK could never win if it does not take a stand against NEET. He also added that the Congress party is praying for Vasantha Kumar MP of the Congress party, who is suffering from coronavirus infection, was receiving treatment and his health was improving.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee Chairman Mayura Jayakumar, Mohan Kumaramangalam, former Assembly Member MN Kandasamy, Coimbatore North District Chairman VMC Manokaran and Southern District Chairman Sakthivel were among the Congress party members present at the press conference.
