Hindu outfits install and worship Ganesha idols in private places in Coimbatore on Vinayaga Chathurthi

Coimbatore: As Hindus worldwide celebrate Vinayagar Chathurthi today, the hindu political organisations installed Vinayagar idols in private places in Coimbatore for worship.

Hindu political organizations are celebrating Vinayaga Chaturthi by installing Ganesha idols in private places in Coimbatore as the government of Tamil Nadu has banned worship of Ganesha idols in public places owing to increasing spread of COVID-19.

Every year in Coimbatore the Hindu political organisations celebrate Vinayaga Chathurthi with big processions and week long celebrations. Huge Ganesha Idols are erected in public places for worship followed by a festive procession for Visarjan.

But this year due to COVID-19, Tamil Nadu government has banned worshipping Ganesha idols in public places and denied permission for the Visarjan procession. The Hindu political organisations fought till the last to allow processions despite the explanations by the government regarding public safety. The Chennai High Court also had reaffirmed the order of the Tamil Nadu government.

Following the order, the Hindu organizations including Hindu Makkal Katchi and the Hindu Munnani in Coimbatore have installed Ganesha idols in private places for worship.

Accordingly, Ganesha idols were installed for worship following a Ganapathi Homam on behalf of the Hindu Makkal Katchi near a bakery in Thermutti area. The Ganesha idol installed was designed to look like Lord Ganesha killing the coronovirus engraved on an ashguard with 'Vel'.

Hindu Makkal Katchi executive said that small idols of Ganesha have been placed in 32 private places in Coimbatore on behalf of the Hindu Makkal Katchi obeying the order of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Chennai High Court. He also said that the idols will be immersed in water bodies at 3 pm with very few people to avoid crowding.
