There has been several complaints about bribes in the area regarding construction of houses. Prabhu, who lives in the Udagai Municipality, has built a house following all the rules and had requested his house to be measured and approved.
Municipal Revenue Assistant Inspector Satya Arokiya Nathan has demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 to survey the land on behalf of the municipality.
Following this, Prabhu lodged a complaint with the District Vigilance Anti-Corruption Police. Based on the complaint, Prabhu this evening handed over a bribe of Rs 15,000 to Revenue Assistant Inspector Satya Arokiya Nathan.
At that time, the undercover anti-corruption police arrested the Municipal Revenue Assistant Inspector. The investigation has revealed that Satya Arokiyanathan, who was arrested, had received a bribe of several lakhs of rupees to survey the land of several houses in the Ooty Municipality.
