Coimbatore: The Congress Committee President K.S. Alagiri has criticised that the Central and State governments have failed in the COVID-19 prevention measures. He further said that the NEP was against social justice.

The meeting of the Congress party Executives was held at Makkinampatti near Pollachi. Taking part in this meeting, the Congress Committee President K.S. Alagiri met the press.

During the press meet he said, "The world's second largest railway, the Indian Railway is being operated in a profitable manner. Crores of people patronise the railways. If this is privatised the trains may be more colourful but they will come at 25% to 30% additional cost."

He further criticised and said, "Both the Central and the State governments have failed in their COVID-19 prevention measures. Due to the lack of proper planning the disease spread has reached the villages. The NEP is against equality and social justice."

Stating that 10 years ago the Congress brought about non-stop education which has helped the girl children, he said, "The plan brought about by the Congress helped girls in the rural area to pursue education until class 11 and it benefitted them. The NEP, however, benefits only the people in a high position, higher class and for the wealthy. This new policy is useless for the middle class."

He also expressed confidence in the DMK and its allies and said that they would form a strong alliance just as they had done in the Parliamentary elections and win the Assembly elections.

The Tirupur District Congress Committee President Thennarasu, Tamilnadu Congress Committee Executive Chairman Mohan Kumaramangalam and the All India Congress Committee Member, Dharapuram MLA Kalimuthu were present.
