Collective prayers for the recovery of legendary playback singer SP Balasubramaniam were held at many places in TN

Coimbatore: Popular playback singer S.P. Balasubramaniam has been affected by COVID-19 and is in a critical state. Prayers for his recovery are being held all over TN.


Coimbatore: Popular playback singer S.P. Balasubramaniam has been affected by COVID-19 and is in a critical state. Prayers for his recovery are being held all over TN.

A multi faceted person, SPB, as he is fondly known, is a singer, music director, actor and movie producer. He has sung more than40,000 songs in 16 languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

A couple of days ago he was affected with COVID-19. However, his health condition continued to deteriorate and he was admitted into the MGM Healthcare hospital and intensive treatment is being offered.

Prayers for his recovery are being undertaken in large numbers at various places all over TN. Songs that SPB sang are being sung continuously as collective prayers for his recovery in various places such as Chennai, Puducherry, Coimbatore, Thanjavur and Salem.

Director Bharathiraja had called for these collective prayers. With the songs of SPB playing in the background celebrities like Rajini, Kamal, A.R.Rahman, Illayaraja and Vairamuthu and other technicians of the Tamil film industry

joined in the prayers.

As a part of this collective prayers, Raj Melodies Music Concert group in R.S. Puram sang continuously. Starting at 6 PM the group sang the songs of SPB for an hour without a break.

Speaking to the press the Raj melodies coordinator Rajan said, "We hope SPB recovers soon. 75% of songs that are sung in most of the music concerts are songs that he sang."
