Tirupur: The Hindu Munnani State President Kadeshwara Subramaniam has requested that the TN government should make arrangements to install and worship Vinayagar idols in public places and to dissolve it in water like the previous years.
The Vinayagar Chathurthi festival is to be celebrated on August 22 and the TN government, citing the COVID-19 spread, has banned the installation of idols in public places and taking them out in procession and dissolving them in water.
Now the Madurai High Court has issued a statement that it cannot interfere in the policy decisions of the government.
Following this the Hindu Munnani State President Kadeshwara Subramaniam met the reporters in Tirupur yesterday. He said, "The Hindu Munnani is an organisation that respects and obeys the laws of the government. Hence the government must take measures to install the Vinayagar idols and to dissolve them in water. Unlike the previous year the idols will be kept only for a day for worshipping. Processions will not be done with a public gathering and the Hindu Munnani has advised this. The government has been informed regarding this."
He further said, "Naxalites and atheist officials are attempting to get the government a bad name by banning the celebrations. The Hindu Munnani believes that the ruling government will not have the support of the minorities in this election, however the full support of the Hindus will be for them. With only one more day left for the festival the government must make arrangements for use to install the idols for worship and to dissolve them", he said.
