Coimbatore: 'CODISSIA' Industrial Park Limited (CIPL) signed an MOU with CII’s- Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) at an event held at Coimbatore.
CIPL, Managing Director, Dr AV Varadharajan, and CII's IGBC Coimbatore chapter, Chairman, Rajesh Lund signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of CODISSIA President R. Ramamurthy, Project coordinators KS. Natarajan and Ramesh on behalf of CIPL and key office bearers of CIPL, CII, and IGBC.
CIPL Managing Director, Dr AV Varadarajan said, "Signing of this MoU is for developing CODISSIA’s industrial parks at Kallapalayam and Mopperipalayam villages sustainably, thus giving a huge boost to the Green Building Movement. CIPL’s industrial parks come under IGBC Green Industrial City Rating, where major infrastructure such as power, water, and waste water treatment and transportation facilities are planned and provided by CIPL for the benefit of 300 individual factories that would eventually be set up", he said.
"Such a development will also facilitate optimal and efficient use of natural resources like water, energy and land based building, thus reducing environmental impacts that are measurable and improve the overall quality of life. As a part of the MoU, IGBC would work closely with CIPL’s design & project team and the upcoming individual factories within the industrial parks in particular, to facilitate green initiatives. CIPL aspires to develop role-model industrial parks for the rest of the country. We believe in converting environmental problems to opportunities and emerge with appropriate solutions. We are sure that a major leap in this direction is the signing of MoU with CII’s IGBC", he added.
IGBC Coimbatore Chapter, Chairman, Rajesh Lund said, "This MoU will go a long way in setting new global benchmarks in resource conservation, energy and environmental management and in the process facilitate India to consolidate its leadership position in the global green buildings map. IGBC will work closely with team CODISSIA Industrial Park Limited (CIPL) in facilitating the building of a Smarter, Greener and a Healthier industrial city", he said.
CII’s IGBC with the support of all the stakeholders has launched an exclusive IGBC Green Cities Rating System in the year 2015, which promotes an eco-friendly city that balances social, economic, and environmental dimensions, as well as good urban governance as its foundation.
