Coimbatore: An idol of Vinayagar on Big Bazaar street was reportedly found broken today morning. Following this Hindu outfits gathered at the spot and insisted on severe action against the miscreants who were involved in this act.

The police department assured the locals that action would be taken to install another idol at the same location. Following this the police reviewed the CCTV footage in the area and were investigating regarding this incident.
Under the scanner is an 80-year old man, Rajappan who has been taken by the police for enquiry. It is being alleged that since the statue was near Rajappan's house he could have broken it because it posed a disturbance to him. An investigation is being held to ascertain if that could have been the reason why the idol was damaged.
