Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector K. Rajamani on Wednesday, admonished a Hindu Makkal Katchi leader for not wearing a face mask, while filing a petition.

The old bus stand in the Sulur area, which was in a dilapidated condition was demolished and a new bus stand is being constructed at a cost of Rs.4 crore. Yesterday, the District Collector inspected the completion works and discussed with the officials on inaugural works.
During the inspection, Manickam, Hindu Makkal Katchi President of Sulur presented a petition to the Collector regarding an issue related to the Vinayagar idol at Sulur Taluk office.
Shockingly, Manickam who has standing at close quarters to the Collector was not even wearing a mask. Irked by his callousness, the District Collector who recently recovered from Covid-19 infection, questioned him as to why he was wearing a mask.
"Why haven't you come without wearing a mask? With thousands infected with COVID and struggling for life, how could you be careless?", the Collector asked. Embarrassed by the Collector's advice, the Hindu Makkal Katchi leader told that he mistakenly left his mask in his car.

The Collector insisted him to wear mask and later he came back wearing a mask and presented the petition regarding removal of a Vinayagar statue at the Sulur Taluk office.
The District Collector received his petition and assured him appropriate action.
