Coimbatore Corporation is taking various preventive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the city.



Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer J. Shravan Kumar inspected the work of spraying special disinfectants all over the area using vehicles at the Avarampalayam bus stand at the North Zone.

He asked construction workers, vegetable vendors, and pushcart vendors in the area to go to COVID screening camps and get themselves checked. He enquired the people in Pattalaman street if they received drinking water and whether garbage is disposed properly.



He then inspected the Avarampalayam VG Rao and Murugan Nagar isolated areas and the sanitary measures carried out there. He asked the workers there to clean the areas on a daily basis and make essentials available to the public there.

He instructed that isolated persons should not leave their homes until the end of the quarantine, their house should be disinfected both in the morning and evening, and the people there must follow social distancing, must wear a mask, should consume tablets provided for immunity and drink Kabasura Kudineer and subject to medical examination.

He then told the people in the area that those with cold, flu and cough should get a medical check-up immediately and people over the age of 50 should have their blood sugar levels and blood pressure checked.



He inspected the TWAD construction work carried out at Ramakrishnapuram of an overhead tank with a capacity of 30 lakh liters. He tested the amount of chlorine in the water to see if there was enough of it.

He also enquired the frequency of water distribution, checked if the water let out from Pillur dam reached the tank and if there were any discrepancies on the same. Senthilkumar Rathinam - Assistant Commissioner North, Ramachandran - Regional Health Officer, Nassar - Assistant Engineer and Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
