The possibility of spread of COVID-19 from people who arrive into Coimbatore district from other districts, states and foreign countries is higher. Considering this, those who enter into the district, those who have been in contact with infected people and those with symptoms are all being quarantined. As per this 2,559 people have been quarantined in the district, informed officials.
Speaking about this, an official with the District Administration said, "As on August 17, 2,559 people have been quarantined at private COVID care centers and homes. All these people are continuously monitored by the authorities. By quarantining them, the spread of the disease can be controlled."
