Coimbatore: The centre's new education policy that asks the non-Hindi speaking states to follow a three-language policy in schools, making Hindi a compulsory language in the process, has drawn wide-spread criticism. Unsually, both the ruling AIADMK and the opposition party DMK share the same spirit in condemning the centre's education policy imposing Hindi.
Claiming it to be a polished version of 'Gurukula' and 'Manusmriti', several parties including Communist and TPDK in Coimbatore, alleged on Tuesday that Hindi is pushed into the syallabus of Corporation primary schools in a 'discreet' manner through issuing applications asking parents to chose Hindi.
These allegations point to the application form issued at a Corporation primary School in Avarampalayam, here. In which, a criteria states, if the student is OK in learning Hindi as third language or he/she would learn vocational course, as per choice. The mention of this point in a primary school application form by Corporation is shocking and highly condemnable, say party members of CPI and TPDK.
Rubishing the allegations, City Corporation Commissioner, J Sravan Kumar has confirmed that "The application form is a fake one and was not approved or issued by the Corporation. Some miscreants have done this with dubious intentions, and now the issue is being falsely politicised. Over the last three years, no new application forms have been printed or issued", he told the media in a press meet organised this afternoon.
When questioned on the statement of Chief Educational Officer, Uma who informed that the application could be an old form mistakenly distributed, the Commissioner told that the issue will be proved to understand how and what went wrong. But, he conclusively denied of Corporation neither printing not approving the matter in the application for circulation.
"The officials and the concerned people will be questioned, and if proven guilty, departmental action will be initiated. Meanwhile, parents intending to admit their wards at Corporation schools need not panic over this fake issue", he informed.
