Coimbatore: A 26-year-old daily wage labourer who impregnated a 14-year-old girl of class 8 has been arrested and imprisoned under POCSO.
Coimbatore: A 26-year-old daily wage labourer who impregnated a 14-year-old girl of class 8 has been arrested and imprisoned under POCSO.
Sivalingam (26), a daily wage labourer from MGR Nagar, Bellathi, Karamadai enticed the girl residing in the same area with promises of marriage and stating that he loved her, he continuously abused her sexually.
The girl who was in class 8 had remained at home due to the COVID-19 situation. During this time Sivalingam had convinced the girl that he would marry her and managed to have sex with her. Due to this the girl had become pregnant and when the girl's mother took her to a private hospital for check-up the hospital management confirmed that she was three months pregnant.
In addition to this news that the girl was to be married to Sivalingam on August 21 was received by the ChildLine Organisation, which led to the rescue of the girl. The complaint was filed by Angeline of the Child Line Association. Sivalingam who was to be married to the girl on August 21 has now been arrested and imprisoned.
