TPDK requests TN Government should not permit Vinyagar Visarjan processions

Coimbatore: The TPDK has requested the TN government not to grant permission for the Vinayagar visarjan procession.

Coimbatore: The TPDK has requested the TN government not to grant permission for the Vinayagar visarjan procession.

The TPDK has issued a statement requesting the TN government not to give into the pressures of the Hindu outfits and the BJP for conducting Vinyagar visarjan processions.

The statement read, "The Madurai High Court branch has questioned that while each day nearly 6,000 people are being affected by COVID-19 is it necessary to have the Vinayagar procession at this critical time. Centuries ago the plague disease hit India and thousands of people died. When the British Government issued orders to kill mice that were the cause of the plague, Bal Gangadhar Tilak raised opposition and said that they were the vehicles of Lord Ganesha.

The same stance that Bal Gangadhar Tilak took during those days, stating that mice were more important than the people is what is being taken up by the BJP and other Hindu outfits in the time of the pandemic. These outfits are declaring that even if the people die due to COVID-19 it is ok but they will undertake the Vinayagar Visarjan processions to establish their religious politics.

The TN government must not give into these threats of the Hindu outfits and must stay firm about the ban that they have issued."
