COVID-19: TN logs 5,850 recoveries against 5,698 new cases; overall death toll crosses 6,000

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Tuesday reported 5,698 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the State's tally to 3,49,654, State Health Bulletin said.

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Tuesday reported 5,698 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the State's tally to 3,49,654, State Health Bulletin said.

As many as 5,850 people were discharged from various healthcare facilities today, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,89,787. The number of active cases in the State stood at 53,860 while the overall death toll in the state crossed the 6,000 mark and stood at 6,007 with 125 more fatalities today, the bulletin added.

Chennai continued to top the chart as 1,182 more people tested positive for the virus, taking the State Capital's tally to 1,19,059.

Coimbatore keeps posting almost 400 new cases a day and with 392 cases, today was no exception. The case tally for the district climbed to 9,758. Tirupur registered 45 news cases and The Nilgiris just 9.

All the districts in the State registered new cases today.
