A 36-year-old woman working at a bookstore in the bazaar tested positive for COVID-19 following which a part of the bazaar was closed down.
The other cases include a 59-year-old man from Suleeswaranpatti, 29-year-old and 25-year-old migrant workers working at a private factory near Kurumbapalayam, a senior citizen from Vadakkipalayam and another person from Kottur.
A 62-year-old woman from Chinnaampalayam, Pollachi. who was treated for COVID-19 at the Coimbatore ESI Hospital, succumbed to the illness.
The Revenue department and Health Department officials reviewed all the areas where the affected people reside. Later fumigation was undertaken at all the places. All those in contact with the affected persons were isolated.
