Saravanampatti police registers a case against BJP leader Venkatesh for insulting the national flag

Coimbatore: Saravanampatti police registered a case against BJP leader Venkatesh for insulting the national flag.

BJP Coimbatore's Independence Day celebrations were held on August 15th where the party hoisted national flag at various places. In the Saravanampatti area, the BJP hoisted the national flag on the party's flagpole that had the party symbol of lotus on it.

Since this is outside the legal framework for hoisting the national flag, a complaint was lodged on behalf of the Sub-Inspector on duty at the Saravanampatti police station. Based on this complaint, cops police registered a case against Venkatesh, the BJP Ganapathy Zonal leader, under the National Flag Contempt Act.

Also BJP cadres celebrated Independence Day by blocking VKK Menon Road in Gandhipuram without permission. The Kattoor police have registered a case against six persons, including BJP state treasurer SR Sekar, state general secretary GK Selvakumar and district chief Nandakumar.

The police have registered a case for illegally gathering, blocking a public road without permission and acting in a manner that could cause infection to spread during an epidemic.
