Coimbatore: Celebrations of the 87th birthday of the former Central Minister Murasoli Maran was held today at Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: District DMK cadres celebrated the 87th birth anniversary of late former central Minister Murasoli Maran, today in the city.
Murasoli Maran who was the nephew of late DMK Chief Karunanidhi was often referred as the conscience of Karunanidhi. Notably, he was the first from the Karunanidhi's family to join the party.

Remembering his contributions to the party, the District party cadres led by MLA N Karthik celebrated his birth anniversary today, at the District Party Office. The cadres paid their tribute by paying floral tributes to his photograph.
The DMK East District In-charge N. Karthik MLA, North District DMK Incharge ex-MLA C.R. Ramachandran, South District In-charge Thendral Selvaraj and City West District In-charge Paiya (a) R. Krishnan, and the East District DMK In-charge Marudhamalai S. Senathipathi paid tribute to the late leader. Party executives and cadres participated in the event.

It may be recalled that Murasoli Maran became a Lok Sabha member in 1967 and since then was elected, several times to both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. He was part of the central governments led by V.P. Singh, I.K. Gujral, H.D. Deva Gowda and AB Vajpayee. He died in the year 2003.
