Coimbatore: The Tamilnadu Farmers Association petitioned at the District Collectorate, City Police Commissioner's office and the SP's office to take action against the miscreants who have been slandering the Communist party and its members on Facebook.

The petition stated, "Miscreants have been spreading fake and slanderous comments that the Tamilnadu State Office of the Communist Party, 'Balan Illam' was a brothel and that the party's senior leader Nallakannu belonged to another party. This fake news is being spread on a Facebook page called 'Marxism Vendrae Theerum'. Further a Facebook ID that goes by the name Karuppusamy has posted a picture of Sitaram Yechury with a pot on his head. It does not stop with this. Many such fake Facebook IDs have been used to spread vulgar news and slander the members of the Communist party. Hence the authorities should identify these miscreants and take appropriate criminal action against them."
