Coimbatore: The celebrations of 74th Independence Day took place at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore this morning. The celebration took place at the main entrance of the Center to honour the doctors who served towards prevention of Coronavirus, the pandemic plaguing the world at present.

Dr Nirmala, Dean, ESI Hospital and Dr Abhinaya from Semmedu Primary Health Center were the special guests for this celebration.
"We are celebrating the 74th Independence Day in a completely new normal situation. This year, we are facing a major COVID pandemic. It can be defeated if everyone wears a mask and maintains social distancing," Dr Nirmala, who hoisted the national flag, said in her special address.

"So far, we have treated 3,750 patients at Coimbatore ESI Hospital. The patients being treated now are different from the previous patients as most of them are having issues related to the lungs. The elderly people, diabetics, people with hypertension, kidney issues and cancer problems should be extra cautious. They should avoid social gatherings and going out," she advised.
Sadanandam, Panchayat President of Ikkarai Boluvampatti Panchayat, Minister SP Velumani, and the ward member of Ikkarai Boluvampatti were the special invitees in the function. People from the nearby villages also participated in the celebration.
Earlier, Jaggi Vasudev, Founder, Isha Foundation, in an inspiring Independence Day video message exhorted the Indians to celebrate our differences and retain the uniqueness of our nation. “We have formed this nation, not on the basis of sameness but on the basis of variety of who we are. In every way, we are the most colourful Nation and it’s very important we stay this way,” he asserted.
