Following the implementation of the lockdown by the Central Government under the National Disaster Management Act, 25.03.2020 to prevent the spread of coronavirus across India, the Government of Tamil Nadu has implemented the lockdown throughout Tamil Nadu with some relaxations in place. On those, lines Coimbatore Corporation is also taking various measures to prevent coronavirus infection.

Accordingly, on 14.08.2020, Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer J. Shravan Kumar visited the isolated areas in the West Zone such as Gokulam Colony 2nd Street, PN Pudur, RGR Road, Mummanayakar Road, Netaji Road, and SN Palayam. He inspected the disinfection and cleaning work undertaken here..

He directed the sanitary staff to spray disinfectants both in the mornings and evenings. He urged the officials in charge of the isolated areas to ensure that essentials are provided to the public there.
Later, the commissioner advised the people in the area to wear face masks, adhere to social distancing norms and to get immediate medical check-up for symptoms such as cold and cough and to take vitamin pills to boost their immunity.

Following this, he inspected the ongoing road work and sanitary operations in the area. He inspected the work undertaken to ensure smooth flow of sewerage in the SN Palayam area of Lakshmi Nagar, West Zone. He also asked the roadside vendors in the area to go to the special camps to apply online for availing loans up to Rs. 10,000.
West Regional Assistant Commissioner AJ Senthil Arasan, Zonal Health Officer Gunasekaran, Health Inspector Murugan, supervisors and corporation officials were present during the inspection.
