Coimbatore Superintendent of Police issues notice to unlicensed weapon owners

Coimbatore: Coimbatore’s Superintendent of Police in a notice said “it has been reported that some people illegallypossess unlicensed weapons (guns and bullets) and hunt elephants and wildlife from time to time.

Possession of unlicensed firearms is a punishable offense. Therefore, the public can report unlicensed firearms holders to the Coimbatore District Police Control Room (7708100100). The identity of such informants will be kept confidential.”

He further added that “those who possess unlicensed firearms who are afraid or reluctant to come forward and hand over their firearms can leave their firearms in a public place and report the same to the Coimbatore District Police Control Room (7708100100) either personally or through somebody else.
