The notice issued by the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu stated, "To protect the public from the COVID-19 infection, the Government has been undertaking various preventive measures, offering treatment, providing relief and working proactively. The spread of the infection is being monitored continuously and depending on the cooperation of the people and the intensity of the spread of the infection, various relaxations are being announced in the lockdown."
It further said, "To prevent the spread of the infection, applications for E-passes that permit travel between districts are being granted only for weddings, emergency treatment, death of close relatives, travel for work and returning back to native districts after travel. Through this, people travelling between districts are monitored and if they get infected, people in contact with them can be identified and the process of isolating them takes place."
"To help the people travel between districts for important work, all over TN, I have ordered for E- passes to be issued without any delay or restriction to all the people who have applied for it from August 17, 2020. People have to apply for the E-pass with their Aadhar or ration card along with their telephone/ mobile phone numbers", read the notice.
"This decision has been made considering the welfare of the people and the public are expected to use it responsibly and avoid unnecessary travel. They should apply for E-passes only for unavoidable work", it said.
The notice also advised the people to follow the standard guidelines issued by the government to prevent the spread of the disease and to provide cooperation to the various measures being undertaken by the government.
