The Siruvani dam that is the primary source of water supply for the people of Coimbatore provides water to 36 wards within the corporation and 100's of villages on its way.
The dam can hold 22.47 square kilometers of water, is 49.53 feet high, is situated 878.5 meters above sea level and has a total capacity of 650 million cft.
A Corporation official said, "The Siruvani dam area recorded 150 mm of rainfall the day before yesterday. However, only 3mm rainfall was recorded today causing a reduction in the water flow to the dam. 96.13 MLT water has been taken from the dam to provide drinking water on behalf of the Corporation."
