Three mothers working at CCMC make Coimbatore proud by motivating their sons to join Indian Armed Forces

Coimbatore: While the entire country is gearing up to celebrate the 74th Independence day on Saturday, three mothers who are employed at the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) have done the entire region proud by making their sons join the Indian Armed Forces this year.



Coimbatore: While the entire country is gearing up to celebrate the 74th Independence day on Saturday, three brave mothers who are employed at the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) have brought glory to the entire region by motivating their sons to join the Indian Armed Forces, this year.

In an exclusive interview to 'SimpliCity', Training Commander Lieutenant Esan who is involved in training army officers said, "So far, 273 officers from our academy have joined the armed forces. And, many have joined the armed forces this year, too. Notably, this year three boys from.our academy have joined Indian Army, Navy and Airforce. None from their family have served armed forces before and coincidently, the mothers of all three officers are employed at the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation." 



G.C. Kiran Achintiya has joined as an officer in Indian Army and presently undergoing training at Indian Military Academy. He ranked first of all the candidates from all over India. His mother is working as an Assistant Engineer at the Corporation. 

Sub Lieutenant Manoj, has joined the Indian Navy as a fighter pilot and currently undergoing training. His mother is working as a teacher (B.T.Assistant) at the Corporation School in Peelamedu. 



Thirdly, B.Manoj has joined the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot. His mother is working as a teacher (B.T.Assistant) at SRP Ammaniammal Girls Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore.

"This year's Independence day has turned out to be very special for the Coimbatoreans, as three mothers who are working for CCMC have motivated their sons to join the Army, Navy and Airforce and made the city proud", added Training Commander, Lieutenant Esan.

Lt. Esan himself is an action-packed Commander of a voluntary Disaster Rescue Squad whose members include highly trained officers from the Tri-Services and Coast Guard. His squad was engaged in rescue operations in some of the worst flood-affected areas in Tamil Nadu and Kerala during 2015, 2018 and 2019. The team has helped rescue nearly 750 people including many pregnant women, senior citizens and infants, using boats, assisted by Helicopters.

During the ongoing 'COVID -19' crisis, his team along with a few officers have reached out to nearly 7 lakh people and also facilitated the development of a low cost ventilator through the Indian Army at Coimbatore.

For his services to mankind, he has received several recognitions including a commendation from Chief Minister of Kerala and two citations from Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare in 2020.
