For the past four months, the lockdown has severely affected the livelihoods of potters, who are now suffering further as the production of the Ganesha idols ahead of Ganesh Chathurthi has gone down. Depending on the shape and size of the statues, statues ranging from Rs. 100 to 2000 are prepared for sale in Pollachi. For the past two months, due to the curfew, special events, temple festivals, etc. have not taken place.
