Public advised to observe Vinayagar Chathurthi at homes; public celebrations not permitted

Coimbatore: The Government has banned public celebrations on the occasion of Vinayagar Chathurthi. People have been requested to celebrate the festival from their homes.

Even as Tamilnadu approaches the Vinayar Chathurthi celebrations on August 22, the Government has been undertaking various measures to control the spread of COVID-19. Public functions and gathering of people in large numbers are not allowed.

Considering the welfare of the people installing Vinayaka statues in public places, celebrating with statues or taking out Vinayagar statues in procession, dissolving them in water bodies etc have been prohibited. The public have been advised to celebrate Vinayagar Chathurthi from their homes.

People who visit shops and markets to buy things for the festival are insisted to wear face masks and advised to maintain social distancing at all places.

The TN Government has permitted the reopening of small temples for worship. The government has insisted that the public must follow its guidelines while worshipping at these temples along with the temple administrations. The people who visit the temples must wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
