Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar inspected the special camp organised for providing loans to the roadside vendors under the Atmanirbhar scheme.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, the Central Government had announced that roadside vendors registered under the Atmanirbhar scheme could avail bank loans upto Rs.10,000 to protect their livelihood and businesses.
Following this, interested roadside vendors were asked to apply online with information such as phone number, Aadhar number, bank account details, Corporation ID, ration card copy and voter ID copy. To assist with the application process, special camps have been organised at all the five zones of the Corporation at the Corporation schools.

The Corporation Commissioner visited the special camp being conducted at the Corporation Higher Secondary school at Anupparpalayam in the Central Zone and the Corporation Higher Secondary School at PN Pudur in the West Zone.
The Commissioner requested the teachers at the various school camps to offer their full cooperation to verify if the Aadhar cards were connected and then fill up the applications for processing the loans. Prior to this he met the roadside vendors at Pothys corner, Townhall and those at the Vadavalli bus stand and informed them about the special camps and instructed them on the ways to obtain the loan and to register at the special camps.
The Central Zone Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Kanagaraj, West Zone Deputy Commissioner A.J. Senthil Arasan, and Women's Scheme Project Director Selvarasu were present for this inspection.
