Corporation Commissioner inspects special camp organised for Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi scheme.

Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner J Sravan Kumar, on Wednesday inspected the special camps set up to aid street vendor access bank loans under  the AtmaNirbhar scheme.

With an objective to facilitate working capital loan up to Rs 10,000 for street vendors and hawkers whose livelihood has been gravely hit due to Covid-19 lockdown, the PM announced the AtmaNirbhar scheme fully funded by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Applications have been pouring in across the country to avail loans. Unable to access the procedure for applying such loans, the street vendors had requested the district administration to organise camps to help them register for the loans.

In a bid to help the street hawkers register to avail the loans, the Coimbatore Corporation on August 12 organised special camps across all five zones. The street vendors registered themselves by providing their mobile number, Aadhar card number, bank account book, identity card issued by the corporation, copy of the family card, copies of the voter ID card.

The Corporation Commissioner inspected the special camp held today at Anuparpalayam Corporation High School in the Central Zone and PN Pudur Corporation High School in the West Zone.

Speaking of the special camp, the Commissioner told that the teachers who are engaged to help the street vendors register for the loan should ensure that their Aadhar card is linked to their registration certificate.

Central Regional Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Kanakaraj, Western Regional Assistant Commissioner, AJ Senthil Arasan and Women's Project Director, Selvarasu were present during the inspection.
