Minister S.P. Velumani assures that Kurichi Lake will remain unaffected due to the Smart City project



Coimbatore: Minister S.P. Velumani has shared a post on Facebook about the Smart City project work undertaken at the Kurichi lake.

In the post, the Minister wrote, "The modernisation of the lakes in the Corporation under the Smart City projects also takes environmental protection into consideration. Hence as per the guidelines of the PWD, at the end of the project, the full level of the Kurichi Lake will be maintained. Its originality will not be tampered with.

The encroachments on the lake banks have been removed and a cycling path, boat house, community halls and an island with trees will be set up to enhance the habitat of the birds.

The pathway of the streams that enter into the lake have been cleaned. Work to ensure the waterways are protected is on.", he said.
