Young man injured by falling branch due to speedy winds in Pollachi succumbs to injuries

Coimbatore: Speedy winds caused tree branches to break and fall in Pollachi. A young man on a two wheeler was injured in this accident. He failed to respond to treatment and succumbed to his injuries today.

Monsoon rains have been lashing in Pollachi accompanied by heavy and speedy winds. On August 5, heavy rains and high speed winds wreaked havoc in Pollachi. Trees were uprooted in various places and traffic was disrupted.

A humongous tree branch that could not withstand the heavy winds broke in the usually crowded street of Kottur Road, Suleeswaranpatti. Fatefully, Chakravarthi of Nallur who was riding on a two wheeler bore the brunt of a falling branch. The tree branch hit Chakravarthy who collapsed on impact and fell down from his two wheeler.

He was immediately rescued and rushed to the Pollachi GH. He was later admitted at a private hospital for intensive treatment.

Sady, Chakravarthy succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours of the morning today. The Pollachi East Police have registered a case and are conducting an enquiry into the incident.
