Coimbatore: The BJP State Vice President Kangasabapathy has voiced his opinion that even 8th standard students do not know addition or subtraction because of Samacheer Kalvi.

Professor Kanagasabapathy spoke to the press at Pollachi regarding the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) that has been proposed by the Central Government. Ge said, "The NEP 2020 has made vocational education compulsory and starting from class 6, vocational education will be taught in an integrated manner along with other subjects. Under the NEP 2020, three language education does not force anything. The mother tongue will be the first language followed by English as the second language and the third language can be chosen by the students themselves", he informed.

"The Central Government has issued a target for the NEP. As per the target, by the year 2030 the educational skills of the students will be such that class 3 students will be ready to write and count. Further, the Samacheer Kalvi system of TN has affected the education of the students so much that even 8th standard students do not know addition and subtraction", he commented.

He further said, "DMK and the Communist parties are doing a great injustice to the students by opposing the three language education system." Answering a question about the TN CM's decision to oppose the three language policy, he said, "The TN government has formed a team to research regarding the NEP 2020."

Following the press meet, cadres from many political parties joined the BJP in the presence of the State Vice President Kanagasabapathy.
