Coimbatore: The relatives of an 52-year-old man from Cuddalore who succumbed to COVID-19 in Coimbatore, have alleged a private hospital's negligence for the reason for his death.

A tweet regarding the alleged medical negligence of the private hospital has been sent to Chief Minister's Office Twitter handle, they told.

Ayyanar (52) from Cuddalore district has been reportedly treated for his kidney-related ailment at Coimbatore Kidney Centre near Lakshmi Mills, from January 23, 2019.

His relatives informed that in March, he reportedly underwent a major kidney surgery at the hospital and yet his condition showed no improvement.

"As per the doctor's advice, life-saving injections costing Rs.80,000 each were administered along with plasma treatment for more than 15 times", they informed.

They reported that the doctors of the private hospital then told that Ayyanar was suffering from a chronic liver ailment and advised to shift him to another private hospital for specialised liver treatment. The relatives further noted that as Ayyanar's health deteriorated, the private kidney hospital had volunteered to cover the cost of the treatment for his liver treatment at the private hospital, on Avinashi road.

The aggreived family also allege that they have paid upto Rs.1 crore since last year towards kidney treatment and medical negligence of the hospital has atlast claimed Ayyanar's life to Covid-19.

The relatives informed that they have registered a complaint to the Chief Minister's office via Twitter.
