'Villages need basic amenities' - Members demand at Pollachi and Anamalai Union Council meeting

Members of Pollachi and Anamalai Taluk Union Council passed a 20-point resolution at the Union Council meeting while insisting the need for basic amenities at the surrounding villages.

Coimbatore: Members of Pollachi and Anamalai Taluk Union Council passed a 20-point resolution at the Union Council meeting while insisting the need for basic amenities at the surrounding villages.

The Pollachi and Anamalai Taluks have three Unions, namely Pollachi North, Pollachi South and Anamalai. Once a month, the counsellors of the Unions meet at the Union Office.



The Anamalai Panchayat Union Council meeting was held yesterday at the Union Office meeting hall. Union Council President Shanthi Karthik chaired the meeting. Vice President Gopalratnam, Union Commissioner Balasubramaniyam, Block Development Officer Lata and several union members were present.

Valparai MLA, Kasturi Vasu who was the special invitee to the meeting urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to remain safe in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Following this, 20 resolutions were passed at the meeting.

Several demands were placed as part of the 20-point resolution that included providing basic amenities in the Panchayat areas, setting up lights and bringing the Siddha medical facility building into use in Kambalapatti Panchayat.

At present, action is being taken to prevent dengue and COVID-19, on behalf of the Panchayat Union Office. Fumigation and supply of nutritious pills are also under way in the Panchayat areas.

Union officials said that the Panchayat Union counsellors also should participate in the meeting.
